OB Room Service

The Dietary Department at Windom Area Hospital makes every effort to ensure your dining experiences with us are pleasant and accommodating. In order to serve our OB patients more efficiently, we provide room service, giving you greater control over what you eat and when.

When you are admitted or soon after your delivery, your physician will prescribe a specific diet to meet your individual needs. Your nurse will relay that information to the Dietary Department. Your nurse will let you know when you may begin ordering from the room service menu, which is available in your room.

You may want to visit with your nurse prior to ordering so that you will be aware of any tests or procedures that may be scheduled near mealtimes. You may also have medications that you need to take with your meals. Your nurse will let you know of any of these situations. You are welcome to request food anytime during our regular operating hours, which are 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. You may find your service quicker, however if your request is made during the following meal times:

  • Breakfast – 7:00 to 9:00 a.m.

  • Lunch – 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.

  • Dinner – 4:00 to 6:00 p.m.

The ordering process is easy. Simply follow these steps:

1. Dial 0638 for a meal service representative

2. Verify your name, room number and diet

3. Select your meal items from the room service menu

4. Expect your freshly prepared meal in 45 minutes or less

Guest meals may be ordered as room service. Guest trays are $5.00, and must be paid for at the time of delivery. The tray will include the guest's choice of entree, two sides, a fruit or dessert, and a beverage.  Guest trays will all be delivered at the same time.

If you need assistance setting up your bed table or opening any containers, please feel free to request help when the meal delivery attendant arrives with your meal.

Some things to keep in mind:

  • Certain tests mandate that you do not eat for a period of time. When this happens, your nurse will let you know when it is ok to place your order.

  • If you are on a diabetic meal plan, your meals will be delivered at your request, in order to match up with your testing and medications.

  • If you desire, you may pre-order up to three meals in advance. To do so, please inform our staff member when placing your order and indicate the approximate delivery times you would like.
